Śrīla Ṭhākura Bhaktivinoda – The Modern-Day Vyāsa
To mark the upcoming 112th disappearance anniversary of Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, we present an article examining the scope and significance of his literary contributions, and why Śrīla Narasiṅgha Mahārāja's praise of him as the ‘modern-day Vyāsa’ is so appropriate.
Are We Willing To Hang for Our Ideals?
The following talk was given by Śrīpāda B.K. Araṇya Mahārāja on October 4, 2024. In this talk, Mahārāja discusses the indispensable necessity of service and the spirit of sacrifice, and poses the question: “Are we willing to go to the gallows of destiny for our beliefs?"
Thirty-Two Prayers to Śrī Yoga-Vīra Narasiṁha
This year is the 25th appearance anniversary of Śrī Yoga-Vīra Narasiṁha, the personal Deity of Swami B.G, Narasiṅgha. To commemorate this occasion, a 32 verse prayer - Śrī Śrī Yoga-Vīra-Narasiṁhā Dvātrimśat Stavakam - has been composed in His praise and offered to the lotus hands of Narasiṅgha Mahārāja. Many thanks to Paṇḍita Śrī Gautam Prasad Tiwari for editing.
Appeasing Critics or Honouring the Ācāryas?
Recently, we received a letter from a gentleman sincerely expressing concern over an early English article written by Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura. In “Our Wants,” written in 1863, the Ṭhākura acknowledges and appreciates the work of Christian missionaries in India. The gentleman requested that the article be removed from the Bhaktivinoda Institute website, apprehensive that its presence might invite criticism of the Ṭhākura from certain Hindutva sections in India. Gaura Gopāla Dāsa responded as follows.
Sat-Nyāsa – The Ecstatic Life of Pure Devotion (The Authorised Tridaṇḍi-Sannyāsa)
On the occasion of the 50th sannyāsa anniversary of Śrīla B.G. Narasiṅgha Mahārāja, we are pleased to present an excerpt from an unpublished manuscript he began in 1998. Mahārāja had intended to compose a comprehensive work on tridaṇḍi-sannyāsa, including summaries of the seventeen Sannyāsa Upaniṣads, a history of sannyāsa in various sampradāyas, the Bhikṣu-gītā, Mahāprabhu’s sannyāsa-līlā, and Sarasvatī Ṭhākura’s teachings on sannyāsa. Due to other service commitments, the complete work did not come to fruition. Nevertheless, Mahārāja left us the first section – unfinished, yet rich with numerous insightful points concerning the sannyāsa-āśrama.
The Āmnāya Bhāgavata Paramparā
This lecture by Śrīla Śrīdhara Deva Gosvāmī Mahārāja, delivered during Śrī Navadvīpa-maṇḍala Parikramā, was first published in Dainika Nādiya Prakāśa (Volume 12, Issues 15 & 20) on March 17 and 23, 1937. In it, Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja explains that genuine bhakti arises only through hearing from a living, bona fide guru-paramparā, accompanied by freedom from envy, and he vividly elucidates the grave responsibility inherent in the position of the ācārya.
Nivedana (A Submission)
The following is a letter written by Śrīla Bhakti Rakṣaka Śrīdhara Deva Gosvāmī in 1980, on the occasion of the inauguration of the temple at the birth-site of Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura in Jagannātha Purī. As Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja was unable to attend the ceremony in person, he submitted this letter to be read aloud before the assembled devotees. This was published in Śrī Caitanya Vāṇī magazine (Vol.10, Issue 1).
The Hungry Calf
The following article is based on a talk delivered by Śrīpāda Bhakti Kiśora Araṇya Mahārāja on the disappearance day of Śrīla B.G. Narasiṅgha Mahārāja, December 27, 2025. In this talk, Mahārāja draws upon the Gītā Māhātmya verse “sarvopaniṣado gāvo…” to illustrate how the ācāryas receive the milk-like words of Kṛṣṇa and churn them to extract their deeper and more concentrated meanings.
Śrī Śrī Bhakti Gaurava Vilāsa – The Pastimes of Swami Bhakti Gaurava Narasiṅgha (Chapter 2)
Today being the disappearance day of Śrīla B.G. Narasiṅgha Mahārāja, we present the second chapter of Śrī Bhakti Gaurava Vilāsa (The Pastimes of Swami B.G. Narasiṅgha) - a summary of the life of Narasiṅgha Mahārāja rendered in Sanskrit poetry along with Bengali verse translations. This second chapter discusses Mahārāja undergoing difficulties in Salt Lake City, his joining the Denver temple, meeting Viṣṇujana Swami, and finally being deceived by Brahmānanda and Bali-mardana to go to Africa.
Śrī Jīva Viraha Tithi (The Observance Day of Separation from Śrī Jīva)
(This talk on the disappearance day of Śrī Jīva Gosvāmī Prabhu by Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja, was transcribed and published in Śrī Gauḍīya Darśana, Volume 2, Issue 6, on December 11th 1956. Herein, Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja narrates the glories of Śrī Jīva, and his unique position in our sampradāya)
